We are Satish and Sheela Bangalore, the co-founders of OOTW Domes. We started our glamping adventures with our first visit to Asheville, NC and have since visited various other spots, including Grand Canyon, Austin, and Boone, NC.
Domes
In 1983, Satish visited EPCOT Center at the Walt Disney World Resort where his fascination for geodesic domes began. In 2003, as managing director of Phoenix Global Solutions (PGS), Satish had the opportunity to create a Think Campus in Bangalore, India. Satish immediately jumped on the idea of creating a geodesic dome - this was designed and constructed by Geodesic Dome Techniques (GDT).
Glamping
We were looking for ways to connect with nature but with certain comforts. On our glamping adventures, we had an epiphany - we’re in nature but we’re leaving the same carbon footprint as staying in a hotel room. Now that’s an oxymoron! This sparked the idea for OOTW Domes and we embarked on our journey to a more sustainable glamping dome experience.
OOTW Domes x Bauxr by GDT
Satish and Sheela reach out to Bauxr, a subsidiary of Geodesic Dome Techniques (GDT) to collaborate on creating a more sustainable dome. Given our previous affiliation with the Think Campus project, we partnered together and our intense design efforts have resulted in creating the world’s most sustainable dome.
